Registration of Marriage

  • Scope of Service
    Concerned Tehsildar-cum-Registrar of Marriages

  • Eligibility Conditions
    i. Marriage solemnized already are registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.

    ii. Either Bride or Bridegroom must be resident of the Tehsil in ;which the marriage is to be Registered.

    iii. At the time of Marriage the Bridegroom must have completed the age of 21 years and Bride the age of 18 years.

    iv. Both must be Hindus.

  • Step by Step Procedure
    At the time of Registration of Marriage, the applicant submits an application in prescribed form Stamped with Court Fees Rs. 1.25/-. Marriage Registration Fees is deposited in 32-A form under Head No.0070 in the Bank. This Marriage is Registered under the Hindu Marriage Act ,1955 on the identification of village numberdar.

    iii. Statement of Bride-Bridegroom and their Parents.

    iv. Schedule C and D

  • Verification Procedure
    i. Certificate in Support of Age

    ii. Marriage Ceremony Photographs

    iii. Marriage Card or Any Other Proof in support of Marriage solemnized.

  • Prescribed Time Schedule
    No time limit is specified for Marriage Registration. Registration is possible immediately after the above Formalities are completed.

      Fees is to be deposited in the head 0070 through Form No. 32-A in the Bank.

    • Common Mistakes to Avoid
      Following points must be kept in mind while registering marriage.
      i. Bride and Bridegroom must not have Blood-Relation.

      ii. Identification by Village Numberdar.

      iii. Bride and Bridegroom must be present personally.

      iv. If any of the two is not present personally, a notice is sent to him regarding Registration of marriage if he agrees or not. After receiving the reply in positive the Marriage is Registered. This notice must be attested by the Notary Public of that Country.
